From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 14, 2012, privacy data omitted, commercial student was practicing takeoff and landing with pilot instructor privacy data omitted at Boeing field onboard a Cessna-172RG, N6141R. Training began at 1330 local, after completing three takeoffs and landings, they began their fourth circuit, as the aircraft started to rotate, the nose gear retracted and a gust of wind forced the airplane down causing damage to the NLG bay doors, lower cowl, engine, and propeller. Apparently the gear lever was raised and none of the two occupants readily admitted to placing the gear lever in the up position. Both occupants verified that the gear lever was in the up position when aircraft rested. Aircraft skidded to a stop and came to rest in the upright position on the west side of the runway south of the A7 intersection.
