From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Description of incident: landed normally, after touchdown extended spoilers, actuated reverse thrusts and applied brakes. Aircraft started sliding and drifted left of center line until left main gear struck chunk of hard snow approximately 18 to 24 inches in diameter. From touchdown to this point braking action nil used differential reverse thrust to get aircraft back to center of runway. Braking action nil improving to poor after reaching last 1/2 of runway. Causal factors: chunk of hard snow on runway. Recommendations: improve quality control of snow removal and communication to maintain close coordination with the snow removal/runway crews, and the flight service station (fss), to ensure prompt and safe responses to winter storm events. Comments: no regulatory violations found. This matter is considered closed.

BRAKING ACTION NIL IMPROVING TO POOR AFTER REACHING LAST 1/2 OF RUNWAY.CAUSAL FACTORS: CHUNK OF HARD SNOW ON RUNWAY.RECOMMENDATIONS: IMPROVE QUALITY CONTROL OF SNOW REMOVAL AND COMMUNICATION TO MAINTAIN CLOSE COORDINATION WITH THE SNOW REMOVAL/RUNWAY CREWS, AND THE FLIGHT SERVICE STATION (FSS), TO ENSURE PROMPT AND SAFE RESPONSES TO WINTER STORM EVENTS.
