From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While attempting to land on runway 29 a wind gust caused the aircraft to "balloon". Pilot elected to go around. Applied full power and cleaned up aircraft, at about 80-90 feet AGL the pilot stated "the engine RPM went to idle or quit." Pilot checked fuel selector for on, checked fuel boost pump on, and pumped throttle 2 - 3 times, no help, pilot attempted an emergency landing in a small field just ahead and off to the left of the runway. During the hard landing, the left wing tip struck the ground, the nose gear support tube bent rearward, and the wooden propeller was destroyed, there was no further damage to the aircraft.
