What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
A witness stated the pilot had ferried gas in to a remote cabin. Then the pilot and a passenger departed the frozen lake to check the river for open hole, because they had a trap line on the river. After about 30 minutes the aircraft returned and was flying low and slow. He heard the engine rev up and looked just as the aircraft was spinning to the ground. The aircraft was approaching to land at the time of the accident. The pilot of the aircraft was not a certificated pilot.
