From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 04/20/2012, at approximately 20:15 PDT, skywest airlines flight #6310, an EMB-120 (N567SW), Los Angeles (lax) to palm springs (psp), clipped the wing of another aircraft while pushing back from gate 71B2. Skywest 6310 had 28 souls on board with no reported injuries. During pushback, the left wing struck another skywest emb -120 (N562SW), which was empty and parked at gate 71B1. The aircraft pushing back had wing walkers on both wings. The collision occurred as the pushback driver attempted to maneuver N567SW to avoid a ground fueling port grate, causing the left wingtip to strike the right wingtip of aircraft N562SW. According to the left wing walker, he indicated to the driver to stop, but the driver continued pushing back until impact occurred. Damage to the parked aircraft consisted of a right broken nav light housing and right wingtip fairing damage. The aircraft pushing back sustained damage to the trailing edge left wingtip fairing assembly. Passengers were subsequently deplaned.
