From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 28, 2012, at 1100 central daylight time, a aerocommander-114, N114JA, made a gear-up landing at Defuniak Springs, fla, the pilot received minor injuries, and the aircraft incurred minor damage. The pilot stated that he entered a 45 degree left downwind pattern for Defuniak Springs, and started slowing the aircraft to pattern speed with 10 degree of flaps. Another Cessna 182 was closing at about one mile behind, and radioed that it was entering the same pattern. About the time the other aircraft called left base for runway 09. I was using a printed checklist on downwind to base and was monentarily interrupted by a radio transmission from someone asking if an air show is in progress at Defuniak Springs. My aircraft touched down without the landing gear extended and slid approximately 200 yards on the two rear steps, left and right mufflers, and nose gear doors. An inspector from this office performed an on site examination of the incident site, and discovered that the aircraft entrance door, steps and the nose gear doors were damaged. Pictures were taken of the incident. There was no other damage noted.
