From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 1422 on Friday, may 4, 2012, comair aircraft #7141 was arriving at gate B18 as flight 2875 from lex when the aircraft rolled backwards and impacted a belt loader causing damage to the left wing. The marshalling agent parked the aircraft on the CRJ200 stop line and was in the process of getting the nose gear chocks when the aircraft started rolling backwards. The agent then attempted to place a chock behind the nose gear and then tried to get CA attention with emergency stop signal. A "chocks in" signal was never given to the flight crew prior to the aircraft movement. The flight crew confirmed the movement backwards. At the scene, the captain stated to the investigating managers that he could not remember whether or not he received a chocks in signal and that he most likely forgot to set the brake. The agent on the belt loader pulled a few feet past the winglet and was waiting on a guide person who had just put up the cone bars around the right wing. The agent on the belt loader noticed the backwards movement of the aircraft and tried to move the belt loader backwards. He did not have enough time so he jumped off to escape any serious injury. The aircraft rolled backwards a total of 6 feet before it struck the belt loader causing damage to the belt loader and the left wing.
