The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

The event occurred as follows from statements and collected data. The Piper comanche 250 N7171P privacy data omitted departed form pwa (wiley post) at just after 12:30 CDT after having the engine removed, overhauled and reinstalled at pwa. Manual override of gear extension was initiated but did not appear to move the gear, after more force the gear dropped as stated by the operator. It was at this time the engine lost RPM and the operator stated he began loosing altitude, the engine had no response to additional control inputs and an emergency landing to the south was conducted.
