The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 6-6-2012, N330AL, s/n 3030, a glassair iii during cruise flight encountered a possible propeller governor malfunction according to the pilot. The aircraft landed safely at Falcon field (kffz), Mesa, AZ with no injuries to the pilot or passenger, additionally there was no damage to the aircraft or airport facilities. The propeller and governor were tested by a 14 CFR part 145 repair station who validated the propeller governor is functioning correctly. A test was performed on the engine to determine correct oil pressure, this test indicated that the engine was not producing the correct amount of oil pressure, initial troubleshooting indicates that the forward crankshaft bearing may have rotated blocking oil flow, the blocked oil flow and reduced pressure may have limited the required oil pressure to the propeller governor required to maintain blade angle. The aircraft owner works overseas and has not returned to the united states to have the engine disassembled and inspected to determine the cause of this discrepancy. The FAA has requested to be advised by the owner when the engine is to be inspected. No further information can be given at this time, 8-7-2012.
