From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At 08:00 on 06/29/2012, N701ZN an amateur built zenith, 701 was flying in the pattern at Chapman memorial (C6M). While using runway 27 on the third pass privacy data omittedadded power to ascend to pattern altitude. Upon adding power the aircraft veered left. privacy data omittedTried to correct using the right rudder. The rudder would not move so privacy data omitted pulled power attempting to land, even though he was approximately 70 degrees off the runway center line. Realizing that he would strike a tree he added power further exacerbating the left turning tendancy. Adding power allowed the aircraft to pass through the tree about 5 feet from the top at a high angle of attack. The aircraft continued just over a house ending in a small pond in front of the house, with a heading of approximately 090 degrees.
