From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Jumper was doing a three way rw dive. Exit, freefall, breakoff and deployment went as planned. Jumper entered the landing pattern at an appropriate altitude and flew downwind, base and final. Jumper was on final at approximately 300 feet. The canopy was observed to be flying straight with the wing level all the way to the ground and didn?t appear to be experiencing any turbulence. The canopy had some, but not much forward drive due to the ground winds. At approximately 50 feet the jumper started jabbing on the left toggle but the input was not enough in stroke or duration to appear to have any effect on the flight path of the canopy. Just before impact the jumper picked his feet up and then started to flare. The start of the flare was very late only giving the jumper time to get the toggles to ear level. The jumper landed hard, legs forward in a seated postion, and then laid down without making any attempt to deflate his canopy.

As the FAA filed it
