From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 4, 2012, N84279 attempted to take-off from a grass strip (33AR), a 2300 foot long strip at elevation 535 feet. The aircraft was being operated by the registered owner, a private pilot with a valid third class medical. While climbing out at 40 feet of altitude, the aircraft performance was degraded due to high density altitude, the aircraft banked left and impacted three trees and came to rest in the backyard of a resident. There was no flight plan filed and there were no injuries.
