On July 12, 2012 at approximately 1251 local time, N51AK, a Cessna 206-U206G operated by air excursions, LLC, (yaxa) of Gustavus, Alaska, experienced a loss of power in flight. The 14 CFR part 135 flight departed juneau international airport (jnu) en route to glacier bay with the pilot and five passengers on board. During the flight over glacier bay one of the passengers became ill and wanted to return to juneau. The commercial pilot initiated a return to juneau at about 8000' over the margarie glacier and noticed a high oil pressure reading but was still within the green arc. The pilot continued to monitor the oil pressure as it went to normal operating pressure momentarily, then approximately 5 min. After setting a course to juneau the oil pressure guage indicated a loss in pressure. At this point the pilot elected to overfly Gustavus as a precautionary measure. Approximately 10 min. Out of Gustavus oil pressure went below allowable limits. The pilot elected to land at the Gustavus Airport, when at 8000' over the airport the oil pressure dropped to zero, at 4000' during the decent the engine shuttered and lost power. The pilot executed an engine-out emergency landing without futher incident, and evacuated the passengers. Pilot followed glide speed and engine failure procedures according to the aircraft checklist. No damage to aircraft primary structural elements during engine-out landing.
