From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman landed the aircraft on a sandy moraine below a Glacier, and was repositioning the aircraft for take-off. He stopped short of what appeared to be a shallow stream, shut the aircraft down, and got out to check the streams depth. After probing the stream with a stick and then with his hands he determined that the stream was approximately five inches deep and would be safe to taxi across. Once back in the aircraft he started the engine and began to slowly cross the stream and while crossing, the right main gear broke through the stream bed and sank into a deep hole resulting in a propeller strike.

As the FAA filed it
