From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that he bounced on landing on runway 15 at det. He committed to landing instead of going around. The aircraft again touched down left of the center line, in the 1000' box. He was correcting back to center line, when the tail wheel touched down. The control inputs were that which unlocked the tail wheel allowing it to caster. The aircraft departed the runway at approx. 1150' runway length, to the right, destroying the #2 VASI box, and disabling the system. He continued in an arc out 165' from the runway, and then back on to the runway at approx. 3100' runway length. There were no injuries. Aircraft damage is minor.
