What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot was performing a soft field takeoff, rotated, was airborne for a short time (2 to 3 seconds), and then the aircraft settled back onto the sod, touching the right main first. It veered right, and struck a tree trunk, causing substantial damage. Pilot unable to reduce power to reject takeoff due to unfamiliarity with operation of vernier throttle.
