From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PA-22 accident near Montana Creek:a telecom with a state trooper reveals that the CFI was PIC for this flight from Talkeetna to willow airport for a student's initial flight lesson in tailwheel aircraft and was to be conducted at the willow airport. The passenger is a private pilot and he asked the CFI to demonstrate a stall. The CFI demonstrated a stall and was unable to recover. The aircraft hit the ground and both PIC and passenger sustained injuries. The CFI recalls a different set of circumstances: stalls were not performed, but rather the CFI was flying at low altitude (200') when he reduced power to 50% and demonstrated a simulated engine failure at low altitude. The nose dropped and the aircraft hit the ground. The pilot and the CFI sustained injuries and the CFI is still in the hospital.
