From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot reported aircraft engine started running rough approximately 10 minutes after departure from Talkeetna (tka). Pilot applied carburetor heat and the engine roughness worsened followed immediately by a decrease in engine RPM to propeller stopping rotation. Pilot established best glide and attempted restart three times before landing on parks highway 3 approximately 16.4 miles south of tka. On scene inspection of aircraft revealed no rotation of vacuum pump during propeller rotation. Aircraft involved in a minor propeller strike on or about 5/14/12. Followup of maintenance records to validate post propeller strike maintenance events possibly related to this incident. Engine inspection reveals crankshaft broken between front two and rear two cylinders.
