From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After pushing aircraft back from jfk iat gate 31 to startup point 3 for departure and coming to a complete stop the captain set the aircraft brakes per the instructions from ground crew. Once at the startup point the ground crew began the towbar and tug disconnect procedure by lowering the wheels on the towbar prior to disconnecting the tug. At this point the tug started to move forward and pushed the towbar under the nosegear between the nose gear tires. The pushback tug came to rest against the nose strut with the nose gear off the ground resting on top of the towbar. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the nose gear, nose gear doors, nose wheels and tires and sustained numerous scratches on the forward fuselage area. The pushback tug and towbar sustained significant damage. The operator of the pushback vehicle sustained minor injury. He was examined at the hospital and released.
