From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On December 13, 2012, the pilot of N1901Z was demonstrating a short field landing in a conventional gear Cessna 150 when the left gear leg fractured shortly after touchdown. This resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. Inspection of the broken gear leg revealed a pre-existing crack in addition to evidence of improper maintenance procedures for corrosion removal. An inspection of the right gear leg also showed the same improper maintenance procedures for corrosion removal. The pilot, who also holds an A&P mechanic certificate, performed the maintenance referred to above.
