From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 12/27/2012 at 0730 PST, a CFI and student were preparing for flight in a non-movement area when the engine quit when the CFI leaned the aircraft for taxi. The aircraft wouldn't restart. The CFI told the student to turn off the master and mags prior to both exiting the aircraft, however only master was turned off. The CFI turned the propeller manually, the engine started briefly, and the CFI was struck in the back of the head by the propeller. CFI was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
