From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 9, 2013 @ approximately 14:35L the pilot in command (PIC) and one passenger departed kcrp airport at corpus christi, Texas enroute to Z98 airport, at zeeland, Michigan.

The PIC deviated from the planned flight to land at klhb, the municipal airport @ Hearne, Texas due to weather encroachment.

The aircraft landed 1000FT past the approach threshold & left of center @ approximately 16: 25L on runway 36 and was driven by the prevailing winds to the west side of the runway and off into the mud. The nose landing gear sank into a soft spot that caused the aircraft to flip tail over nose.

Weather at the time of the incident was light rain, 10 miles visibility, winds variable from 088-092 @ 20MPH with gusts to 30MPH.

The incident was reported to the local law enforcement initially and the aircraft was removed from the immediate scene to a hanger located at the airport.

01/17/2013 The aircraft was inspected by this office after notification by anonymous email of the incident, and location of the aircraft by local law enforcement.

01/22/2013 Inspection of the aircraft records revealed no documented contributing factors to the incident.
