What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilots were practicing straight in autorotation landing and planned power recovery. Power was applied during flare to landing(engine throttle was advanced to flight), but anticipated power was not available at the end , instructor pilot came on controls and the aircraft hit the ground with more force than expected.
Acft tail boom shows minor flex dent on lower right side near attachment bolts. Dent did not crack the paint. The aircraft touched ground with right rear skid tube and with slight forward motion causing tail boom to flex down to the bottom right, resulting in tail boom dent. Tail boom is not allowed to be repaired and must be replaced.
