From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During a flight at cruise altitude of 4500 feet, the aircraft engine started to run rough. The EGT monitor gauge showed the number 3 cylinder had no indication. The engine quit at 500 feet AGL. Aircraft landed in an open field and hit a ditch spanning the field. The final position was inverted. Fuel receipts showed the aircraft had received 27 gallons at the start of the flight. All attempts by the pilot to use carb heat and mixture variations failed to produce results.

Ro comment: the engine will have a tear-down per the NTSB request. This has not been done yet. The ASI plans on amending the 8020-23 when the results are known.
