From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Two experienced jumpers performing canopy relative work (crw) in stack formation. Lower parachutist (jumper 1) made contact with upper parachutist (jumper 2) when approaching too fast from below and behind jumper 2, partially collapsing jumper 1 canopy. This contact caused both parachutist to become entangled. Due to partially collapsed jumper 1 canopy, and inability to turn into wind, the descent rate and forward speed increased, causing injuries upon landing.

Jumpers were experienced and not affiliated with the skydive delmarva school at Laurel Airport.

Jumper 1: privacy data omitted

As the FAA filed it

DUE TO PARTIALLY COLLAPSED JUMPER 1 CANOPY, AND INABILITY TO TURN INTO WIND, THE DESCENT RATE AND FORWARD SPEED INCREASED,CAUSING INJURIES UPON LANDING.

JUMPERS WERE EXPERIENCED AND NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE SKYDIVE DELMARVA SCHOOL AT LAUREL AIRPORT.
