From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Launched balloon from a field behind wal-mart on rte 28 in salem, NH, with four (4) passengers. Destination was a field off of emerson avenue in Hampstead, NH. Pilot stated that a brisk wind hit the balloon from his 10 o'clock, balloon was pushed sharply to the right where trees lined the roadway. Pilot stated that he was committed to land and did not have enough lift to climb above the tree line and the basket caught the tree top. The wind continued to increase, rolling the basket around the tree and in between power lines. As the basket rotated, one of the suspension cables snagged the insulator atop the pole preventing the pilot from getting free. Pilot kept the balloon aloft at treetop level until the power company turn off the electricity, then I lowered the basket to the ground and offloaded the passengers.
