What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot was performing in an airshow when he heard a loud noise and started to notice decreased performance in the aircraft. Pilot immediately alerted air boss and turned toward the airport. Oil then came out of the engine and covered the pilot window preventing pilot from seeing outside. Pilot opened the aircraft canopy to provide visibility, the canopy hit the pilot on the right side of his face and departed the aircraft. The pilot slipped the aircraft to a successful landing.
