From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot privacy data omitted lined up on the runway centerline of runway 10 after being cleared for takeoff. He added power to begin the takeoff roll. He then pulled the seat-latch lever to the unlock position to adjust his seat. The seat moved back, he pulled back on the control yoke which raised the nose. He then pused the nose down and realized he was heading at an angle from the centerline of the runway toward the grass alongside the runway. He elected to continue going straight while traversing off the runway and attempting to stop. The aircraft collided with a runway light, a taxiway sign, and a taxiway light before coming to a stop.
