From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft landed rwy 16 at 7S5

( Independence State Airport, Independence, OR).

Pilot and witnesses State the aircraft bounced once and drifted to the left. The pilot states he applied brakes just as the left main wheel dropped off the pavement into loose sod and gravel. The aircraft yawed to the left and pitched onto the nose and flipped over forward coming to rest inverted. Pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries. Aircraft sustained damage to propeller spinner, propeller, vertical stabilizer, and left wingtip.

The pilot reported to the investigating inspector that he thought he had room to salvage the landing using differential braking rather than adding power but he did not. He said he made an error in judgement.
