From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On a part 135 flight to retrieve passengers, the airman landed on the beach, kodiak island, AK:

After the airman shut down the engine, he realized the passengers were about 100 yards away, so the airman elected to reposition the aircraft closer to the passengers. At that time, the wind was on-shore about 15-20KTS. Instead of taxiing downslope toward the water, the airman chose to turn upslope away from both the water and wind. At this point the wind lifted the tail which resulted in the prop striking the ground.

The airman called his principal operations inspector for guidance and eventually received a ferry permit to return the aircraft to the home base, kodiak, AK.

No passengers were aboard. There were no injuries to the airman.
