From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at approximately 1800 Alaska local time at Montana Creek aircraft N4483Z, PA18 crashed on landing on land and came to rest, submerged in lake.

According the pilot statement, headwind and wind shift cause disruption of the landing alignment. The pilot went on to say that if she had to do over she would make the decision to go around earlier than she did.

The pilot has over 600 hours in this aircraft, there is no indication that this occurred due to lack of competence, as a result of this investigation.
