From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot began to taxi the aircraft from the Tinian International Airport west ramp to the departure end of runway 26 via taxiways charlie and alpha for a planned departure to the island of saipan. Upon reaching the taxiway intersection the pilot failed to complete the right turn onto taxiway alpha sufficiently and exited the north side of taxiway alpha coming to a stop in a drainage embankment. The aircraft propeller and underside were damaged after striking a raised concrete berm over a concrete drain pipe east of the centerline of taxi charlie. The aircraft came to rest on a corner of the concrete berm in the drainage embankment.

The airport taxiway sign was reported to be poorly illuminated at the time of the incident and the taxiway lights marking the north boundary of taxiway alpha are inconsistent between taxiways charley and delta.

An enforcement investigation report (eir) against the pilot would be an appropriate corrective action for the circumstances resulting in this incident, however, the following day the pilot was killed in an accident.

As the FAA filed it
