From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot landed on rwy 34R and veered off the rwy into the grass due to loss of control while operating the rudders and brakes. The aircraft right main gear impacted a concrete barrier and tore the right main gear and strut off. The aircraft was equipped with heel brakes rather than the traditional toe brakes and the pilot while attempting to steer the aircraft inadvertantly pressed on a heel brake causing the aircraft to swerve off the runway. The pilot had just purchased the aircraft and had 12 hours in type.
