From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Intent of today was to taxi the airplane to the run up area to warm up the engine as he does every 6-8 weeks. privacy data omitted Does not have a current flight review, so he did not intend to fly today. Pulled the airplane out of the hangar, with the tail to the hangar door. Placed his feet on the rudder pedals. Does not recall if he tested the brakes at that point. It took five attempts at the start. When the engine started, privacy data omitted said that the sound was louder than normal, however, not as loud as a run up. The airplane start rolling immediately straight ahead and he applied the brakes and the pedals went right to the floor. He applied full left rudder. The right wing struck the hanger door, then struck the structural vertical beam of the hanger and the airplane pivoted 90 degrees and came to rest with half the engine cowling in the next hanger. privacy data omitted Then shutdown the airplane and exited.
