From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N4358Z, experimental amateur built aircraft, departed rio vista airport at 1450 with one pilot and one passenger on a recreational flight over the delta water ways of contra costa county.

While in cruise flight the engine lost power and rolled back to idle with no response from throttle changes.

PIC determined that they could not maintain altitude and made an unscheduled emergency landing on a reed covered island in the river channel just north of bradford island.

The aircraft came to rest in a nose down attitude after a short approach over the reeds. Initial report from the PIC and passenger indicates that there were minor injuries and minor damage to the aircraft.
