From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot retracted landing gear after takeoff and reported it being noticeably quieter than usual. The gear handle "in-transit" light was still illuminated. Pilot cycled the gear then tried to pump them down manually. He received no nose downlock indication. Tower verified nose gear remained down after retraction. Pilot landed and nose gear collapsed after approx 100FT. Aircraft slid approx 600FT more before stopping. Both props struck the runway. Aircraft was inspected on 12/10/2013 and found chain from the gearbox to the forward bulkhead was broken preventing further movement of the nose landing gear.
