From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After two unsuccessful landing attemps at klnc due to crosswinds he contacted regional approach and asked for vectors the controllers suggested Mesquite khqz as he approached Mesquite he noticed he had no fuel in the sight gauge. A minute later the engine quit and he set the airplane up for an approach into the wind and told regional that he had an emergency just prior to touch down the airplane impact a wire fence and sustained minimal damage which included a scratched up prop and scratches on the right spar and lower landing gear (see photos).
