From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N36ML/BE36 departed baker city or. (Bke) VFR and requested an IFR clearance to butte mt (btm). An IFR clearance was issued and N36ML was cleared to 13,000 feet. Approximately 15 miles east of the donnelly VORTAC (dnj) the aircraft started deviating from course and altitude. The controller recognized the deviation and questioned the pilot. The pilot indicated that he was picking up significant icing and requested 11,000 feet. The controller issued 12,000 feet which was the minimum vectoring altitude (mva) in the area. N36ML requested to divert to salmon id (smn) and was issued a clearance to smn. N36ML was observed descending below 11,900 feet and the minimum safe altitude warning (msaw) alerted. The controller issued an appropriate low altitude alert. N36ML indicated that he was having engine problems and requested to divert to mccall (myl). The controller suggested headings for myl and the location of the Johnson Creek (3U2) airport which was below the pilot?s current location. A simultaneous loss of radar and radio contact occurred at 20:03 UTC.
