From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot of homeland security and border patrol aircraft reported that while conducting training, that after completing the third takeoff and landing, at about 15 feet after takeoff, there was a loud explosion. He reported that immediately following the explosion, there was an audible over-speed warning and a vertical vibration. Subsequently landed and the crew attempted to put out the fire. The following day, the crew inspected the aircraft and found a turbine wheel protruding from the engine case. The engine was removed and sent to turbomeca for teardown.
