From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 17, 2014, at approximately 10:36 EDT N6330V, a Cessna CE-172-RG received minor damage following an inadvertent gear retraction while performing takeoff and landings during an instructional flight at Lafayette airport (laf), West Lafayette, IN. The flight also originated at laf.

The commercial pilot rated flight instructor and private pilot rated student were not injured.

The aircraft is registered to Lafayette aviation and was being operated under the provisions of 14 code of federal aviation regulations part 91. Visual meteorlogical conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed or required.

During a touch and go the student retracted the landing gear instead of rasing the flaps. The flight instructor attempted to intervene by alerting the student of the error and then moving the gear lever back to the down position. The nose gear retracted and the aircraft settled onto the runway and slid to a stop. The flight instructor notified the control tower and finished the aircraft shutdown. Both occupants then exited the aircraft.

The laf weather at the time of the incident was wind 250 @ 5 knots, clouds scattered @ 2,900 feet, temperature 9 degrees celsius, dewpoint 4 degrees celsius, and altimiter setting 3016.

The aircraft received minor damage to the propeller and nose gear doors. All controls were operating normally. Both tanks contained fuel. A check of the aircraft after the incident by an IA revealed the landing gear still operated normally. No other damage was identified.

As the FAA filed it
