From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During power off stall demonstration, the plane was slowed to below vfe, the flaps were extended to full (40 deg). A stall was induced after which the nose was lowered and full power was applied, the flaps were retracted. As soon as the flaps began to retract, a loud snap was heard and the aircraft began to yaw to the left. It was noted that the left hand flap was not retracting, so flaps were selected back down and the aircraft returned to pym and landed without further incident.

Post incident inspection revealed that the left hand flap cable (part number 0510105-94) had pulled through the left hand drive pulley assembly (part number 0760612-7).

The left flap was damaged during this incident causing the leading edge and upper surface on the outer 1/3 of the flap to be wrinkled. The upper leading edge skin was also torn around the inboard roller attachment brackets.

The left hand drive pulley was damaged at the attachment contact surfaces for the cable by spreading the upper and lower portions of the drive pulley surfaces.

As the FAA filed it
