From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that he was having difficulties with his spray equipment. He was making his fourth pass and as he turned the spray on he glanced at his left wing briefly to make sure the spray equipment was working properly. As he returned his attention forward, he impacted a rise in the wheat field which he was spraying. He applied aft stick and touched the tail wheel in the field as he climbed clear of the ground. He gained altitude and conducted a controllability check. After he determined the aircraft was operating normally, he finished his application of chemical to the field. He then flew to his base airport of 46D, Carrington Municipal Airport. He intentionally touched down tail wheel first as he was concerned he may have a blown or damaged main gear tire. When he touched down on the main gear they collapsed and the aircraft skidded to a stop on the runway striking the propeller on the runway.

HE WAS MAKING HIS FOURTH PASS AND AS HE TURNED THE SPRAY ON HE GLANCED AT HIS LEFT WING BRIEFLY TO MAKE SURE THE SPRAY EQUIPMENT WAS WORKING PROPERLY.
