What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot was practicing grass landings adjacent to taxiway on area prepared for such by, and with concurrence of, the airport manager.
As aircraft slowed to near zero speed and rudder effectiveness deteriorated it began to yaw due to light crosswind.
Because of no rudder authority, pilot used brake to correct yaw. Brake locked up, skidded, and aircraft flipped forward onto its top, incurring prop-strike on way over.
Aircraft windshield was destroyed. Wing strut broke and collapsed. Skin wrinkled bottom of both wings. Rudder damaged.
