From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft attempted landing in reported IFR conditions. First evidence of aircraft tire marks were approximately 750 feet from end of runway 28R. Aircraft departed the end of 28R for approximately 50 feet and hit a 2 foot embankment. The aircraft went over the embankment, dropping approximately 20 feet and cleared the airport fence. It landed in the ditch on the east side of the county road. It continued across the road. There was evidence of 3 slashes in the pavement on the road from the propeller. The aircraft came to rest in the ditch west of the county road.

Aircraft was removed from crash site before iic arrived. Aircraft was relocated to secure area inside of airport fence.

Aircraft damage consisted of the left landing gear sheared at oleo strut. Right gear and nose gear folded underneath aircraft. Both wings twisted with trailing edge of the wing higher than leading edge. Fuselage forward of the firewall and aft of the cabin door had major damage of creasing and impact damage. Both engine and tail structures of aircraft were sagging down below fuselage of aircraft. Both wings and flight controls had major damage. Both forward wing attach fittings sheared or partially sheared from fuselage. Propeller had one bladed folded underneath aircraft. Engine was free to turn 120 degrees from one blade position to the other. No damage of interior noted other than collapsed seats and interior trim panels loose.
