From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot was performing touch and goes at Van Nuys airport on runway 16L when he lost control. During the maneuver on the runway, the aircraft started to steer to the left. The pilot then applied right rudder with full power and ailerons neutral, the aircraft continued off the runway at taxi way golf. After the aircraft left the runway the pilot closed the throttle and applied the brakes until the aircraft came to a stop. The aircraft stopped on the airport service road adjacent to taxi way bravo.
