From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Captain privacy data omitted was cleared a visual approach to 12R, captain privacy data omitted entered a right base for 12R and remained within the airport area with captain privacy data omitted calling privacy data omitted? Turn to base and final. Once established on the approach, captain privacy data omitted requested final configuration for landing. Aircraft gear and landing flaps were selected with no abnormal indications noted. Captain privacy data omitted maintained aircraft vref speed thru the landing sequence. Touchdown was within the first 1,000 ft. of runway 12R with normal extension of the ground spoilers and the engine thrust reversers. No abnormal indications were noted. As the aircraft slowed and the 80 knot call was announced, captain privacy data omitted slowly began to stow the engine thrust reversers. At this point, approximately 3,000 ft. of runway remaining and approximately 70-75 knots, the aircraft began to veer to the left. Captain privacy data omitted and privacy data omitted responded with full right rudder with no effect. Also, captain privacy data omitted and privacy data omitted were applying brakes and I did not notice any grabbing of the brakes by the shuddering of the aircraft. Captain privacy data omitted immediately grabbed the aircraft steering tiller while quickly turning it to the right, the aircraft responded by jerking to the right. Captain privacy data omitted was able to maintain control and bring the aircraft to a halt on the runway.

Captain privacy data omitted then taxied the aircraft carefully off the runway and into parking with no other issues noted. Once parked, the crew and I looked the aircraft over and especially the nose gear. We did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

Captain privacy data omitted notified the fme, chief pilot and the do. The last decision I know of is the do was going to have aircraft N421 from bro repositioned to cps. I do not know if captain privacy data omitted continued the 2300L flight to kcmh. I talked with privacy data omitted regarding his state of mind after such an event and reminded him of his safety responsibilities as a check airman. Before I left the fme was reviewing maintenance procedures on checking steering linkage on N801TJ.

I reported this event to larus durnell, fred murray and brian mccullagh.
