From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On a VFR flight from mic to stp, after departing runway 32L at mic, the pilot stated that a turn to the east was initiated per instruction of ATC. A loud noise was then heard coming from the engine compartment and the engine began to run rough. Pilot contacted ATC and requested to return to mic. ATC controller informed pilot that smoke was seen coming from the engine and the pilot was told by ATC that they would be allowed to land on any runway of their choosing. Aircraft was able to be landed on runway 32L with what was described by the pilot as the engine producing some power but not as much as normal. After landing, the pilot noted that the oil pressure indication was low. Pilot proceeded to taxiway a and then shut down the engine prior to reaching taxiway e. an excess amount of oil was noted leaking from the cowling.
