From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated, "I was taking off from klhz on runway 5 at approximately 1100 edst to apply ant bait to a local nursery. I had received fuel service from the local FBO. As I accelerated to depart the aircraft was hit by a strong gust that resulted in a loss of directional control. The result was a ground loop with some damage to the aircraft."

Pilot stated the time zone as "edst"; the local time of the accident was 1100 eastern daylight time.

The pilot ground looped the aircraft on takeoff causing substantial damage to the gear and empennage. Takeoff was from runway 5; aircraft departed the runway to the left because of ground loop, settling in the grass. No runway or taxiway lights were struck. Wind reports from the time and location of the accident show wind direction out of the northwest (approximately 300 degree direction) at up to 8 mph steady with gusts up to 18 mph (total speed) reported.
