From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Operation of the airplane prior to and during the accident sequence was not witnessed by any person. In addition, both occupants of the airplane are unavailable for interview due to their injuries sustained during the accident. Therefore, it has not been established what phase of flight the airplane was in prior to impacting trees and the ground approximately 500' southwest of the departure end of runway 26 at WV29. The propeller was found with little damage giving the appearance that it was not rotating under engine power during impact with trees and the ground. Both airplane occupants are FAA certificated pilots, but it has not been established who was pilot in command during the accident flight. This report will be amended after interviews are conducted with both airplane occupants.

As the FAA filed it
