From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman was attempting to land on his private airstrip around 7:40PM local time. The wind was less than 8 knots in the area out of the west. On final approach heading toward the west, the airplane's right wing struck tree branches on the north side of the airstrip. The airplane landed nose/floats first and ended up on it's back. The pilot sustained severe injuries and was life-flighted to a local hospital. The airplane was substantially damaged in the impact.

Post accident inspection indicated the flight controls had continuity and the engine appeared to have been working normally.
